External Counselling Body

According to the concerning law, External Counselling Body (ECB) assists the work in the research centre. ECB is composed of highly respected professionals from Hungarian and foreign scientific communities. The number of members, the compound of the board, and the rules of operation are governed in the Statute and the Rules of Procedures of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS). Members are appointed by the chair of HAS according to the Rules of Procedures of HAS. ECB  reviews  the centre’s work, helps with opinions and recommendations in forming research strategy, and upon the call of the Council of Research Institutes HAS, regularly analyse and evaluate the performance. The body is entitled to access all information necessary to carry out its duty. The research centre provides appropriate conditions for its operation and annual meetings.

Statement of solidarity with Central European University

We, undersigned members of the Center for Economic and Regional Studies at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (CERS HAS), express our solidarity with Central European University (CEU) in the wake of a proposed amendment to Hungary’s higher education law, which threatens the future existence of CEU in Budapest.
